MacPherson strut assemblies, usually called "struts", are so common on today's cars and trucks that it's fair to say that most new vehicles have struts in the front, and almost as many have them in the rear too. MacPherson struts have many advantages: they are compact, easy to install during manufacturing, and leave space for AWD systems. One disadvantage is that replacing the "shock" portion of a strut requires a special spring compressor tool, which can be dangerous to use. At CA Auto Parts, we have the perfect solution: our replacement strut assemblies are pre-assembled and do not require special tools. There are other advantages as well.
